T3 Poetry Unit

Inspired by ‘Kanoro’
Bazil
Bazil spends his life
With our family
Sleeping in his box
Surrounded by blankets

He’s a moody little dog
High maintenance
Loves being acknowledged

He’s a small dog, crossbreed
Ears like satellites
Picking up the smallest things
His little tail gave him his name
Resembles a brush

He is my companion
I call his name
He comes running

He likes to explore
All around the property
In the bush
Paddocks
Everywhere he can

I CAN’T REACH THE BIRD
Jumping up at trees
Barking at noises
Nothing in sight

He’s a lovable dog
But
When he has food
He is very possessive
We love him

I chose this one because it's the longest and very detailed, It's one of my best

Personally I'm not a fan of poetry, but after this unit I can see the fun in it. I enjoyed the creativity in required to make a good poem. The challenge was utilising the methods that the teacher showed us.

Tamati's Visit

Today Mr. Vic Tamati visited Greymouth High School and spoke about domestic violence. Telling us about his experience with family violence and his involvement with it in his own life. Mentioning how his parents treated him, how his peers treated him, and how he learnt to teach his kids. He was taught that's how love works, through abuse. I'd recommend this to anyone who has a spare hour to listen to a man with a heartfelt story.
